New diagonal avenues
Only one ever attempted was Ogden Avenue, extended northeast from Ashland by the early 1930s. This required two costly bridges and viaducts, and chopping through the densely built Old Town neighborhood. The entire route from Chicago Avenue to Lincoln Park was vacated and removed by 1993.
